   “Jindal, a 36-year-old Republican, already intends to push to:
   * Require public officials to give up their pensions if they break the law.
   * Force legislators to disclose their income, assets and debts in financial ranges.
   * Prohibit legislators from serving as consultants to lobbying firms.”

   The first is also fatally flawed constitutionally and fraught with serious legal issues. Who is a “public official” and can “breaking the law” mean a parking violation?

   Nettie: As you can see, the post was allowed.

   Actually, it was much less than half the state who voted for Bobby Jindal. About 50% of the population of Louisiana that can register to vote is registered. Then about another 50% of those who are registered actually voted. So that means 25% of the population who can vote actually cast a vote. Of those 25%, just over half voted for Bobby Jindal. So 13.5% of the state’s population that is of voting age voted for Bobby Jindal.

   And yes, 13.5% of the state can be wrong. We will see in 4 years if they happened to be wrong or not. Im sure you would tell the MAJORITY of Louisiana that voted for Blanco that they where wrong wouldn’t you?

   Oh, and by the way, why should he be a great CHRISTIAN leader? Why should his religion have anything to do with his ability to lead. I said it before and I will say it again, if I was head of the Louisiana Democratic Party I would have not run that religion ad because Bobby Jindal’s religion had nothing to do with why I felt he was wrong for Louisiana.

   So let me ask you something, Nettie. Would you vote for someone to be Governor who is Jewish? Why or why not?

   Every comment I have seen celebrating Jindal has talked about what a good Christian he is. Every single one. It’s a tragic failure of the political process, because the same people who are fighting a theocracy overseas are trying to install one here.

   The reason this is a failure of the political process is that it shows that the people who want to be told what to believe are now the major force in an election. Democrats were criticized for busing people to the polls from the Ninth Ward, meanwhile the Conservatives were busing people from the churches. If we the people don’t do something to counteract the religiously-motivated and politically active people who prop up the Jindals and Huckabees, it’s just going to get worse.

   The only antidote to slavish adherence to religion that I know of is education, and boy have we f—-d that one up around here.

    The New York Times this week revealed that former Representatives Bob Livingston and Richard Gephardt were traipsing around the Capitol delivering campaign funds to congressmen—such as Bobby Jindal, now governor-elect of Louisiana, and Mississippi’s Roger Wicker, who, after their visits, quickly dropped sponsorship of the resolution and declared their opposition to it. Both Livingston and Gephardt represent lobbying firms under contract with the Turkish government, which is paying these firms tens of millions to stay on top of the issue. The New York Times article quotes former congressman Stephen Solarz—whose firm received $165,000 this summer lobbying for Turkey under an arrangement with Livingston: “The Turks have done everything they possibly could” to dismiss HR106. Meanwhile, Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, a resolution sponsor, called Turkey’s lobbying “the most intense I’ve ever seen.” Gephardt, who supported Armenian genocide recognition when he was in Congress, has produced a pamphlet that contests the genocide now that he’s a lobbyist.

    Hasn’t Mr. Jindal selected Roy Martin as part of his transition team for economic and environmental matters? Is Mr. Jindal aware of the environmental problems in Alexandria and Pineville at the current and former Roy O. Martin creosoting facilities?
