Searching For Bobby Jindal
Apr 9th, 2007 by Andrew
In the past few months, several national and local editorial pages including the Washington Post, have called on President Bush to waive Louisiana’s federal cost share as the state rebuilds from two of the most catastrophic disasters in American history. This cost share requirement was waived for New York following 9/11 and Florida after Hurricane Andrew.
So why has this not been waived for Louisiana?
It’s a good question and thus far, there doesn’t appear to be a very good answer. Senator Landrieu continues to be impeded at every turn by the Bush Administration in her quest for an answer. And, as she continues to seek out assistance from Jindal, Vitter and the rest of our Republican delegation, progress continues to bottleneck.
Our current Republican delegation see this disaster as an opportunity to help themselves and not our state. Rather than helping to clear the obstacles faced by our state, Jindal finds it much more necessary to make appearances at sporting goods stores to promote laughable firearms legislation.
While our Governor continues to post up on the Bush Administration by herself, our weak Republican delegation prefers to warm the bench and suck up to the President on the sidelines.
The longer we wait without adequate funding, the more we continue to sink. Our state will not stay afloat forever without federal assistance. Jindal, Vitter and the rest of the lap-dog Republican Louisiana Congress should be ashamed of themselves. This is leadership of the worst kind.

It was included in HR 1591. Jindal voted against it.
