Jindal: One of the least effective members of Congress!
Mar 19th, 2007 by Daniel Z.
According to the power rankings on Congress.org, Congressman Bobby Jindal has received a very low score in Congress. In fact, he is ranked 432 out of the total 435 members of Congress. Of Louisiana Congressmen, Jindal is 6th of 7 with only Bill Jefferson ranking lower.

Looking at Jindal’s numbers, it is hard to see how people could have claimed he had all this “clout” when he got elected. Look at the power rankings of the freshman class of 2004. Even though he was elected President of the freshman class, Jindal has the absolute worst ranking of all new representatives elected in 2004.

One might say, “well of course Bobby Jindal doesn’t have much power; he is a Republican in a House controlled by Democrats”. That may very well be part of it. However, that does not explain why within his own party he is ranked 196 out of a possible 202. Only 6 Republicans in the House have less power than he does.

Why is Jindal’s power so low? Well, the site claims that it is because he has weak committee assignments and that because he is running for another office, he has less time to devote to the people he represents. It is rather unfortunate that Jindal’s greed in attempting to become governor is causing Southeast Louisiana to have less power than it could have… especially when there is still so much to be done post Katrina. I was saying that Jindal wouldn’t have the time he would need to both represent us and run for governor all during the last election. Unfortunately, I cannot talk to (let alone convince) everyone. Hopefully, everyone will now see that Jindal’s greed has made him a less effective Congressman. And if he cannot be an effective Congressman, how on earth is he going to be an effective governor?

Wow, this is amazing.
Not only does Bobby Jindal have a poor power ranking among voting members of the House, he even has less power than non-voting ones!!!
Res. Com. Luis Fortuno (R-PR-AL) is ranked 377 in the House when it comes to power, and he cannot even vote! He was also first elected in 2004 and is 27th in his class (as compared to Jindal’s score of dead last).

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC-AL) is ranked 100th in the House and even though she is a non-voting member, she has had bills pass the House!
Del. Madeleine Bordallo (D-GU-AL) is ranked 177th in the House and is also a non-voting member. She is a committee chair and at her lowest ranking never hit the Jindal ranking of 432.
Del. Donna Christensen (D-VI-AL) is ranked 240th and is also a non-voting member of the House. She is also a chair of a committee and has had legislation pass the House.
Del. Eni Faleomavaega (D-AS-AL) is ranked 243rd.
I wonder how the Jindal camp will spin this one?
This post is a homerun!
Jindal has done nothing in Congress except occupy a seat and raise funds for his gubernatorial bid with Washington, DC, lobbyists. And where is Jindal when allegations of cronyism and corruption have surfaced with Alberto Gonzalez? And where is Vitter? These men are the products of cronyism in Washington, DC, and they claim they will address the problem in Louisiana. No, they will not; they will just staff Louisiana offices with their corrupt friends.
I want to direct everyone’s attention to the following:
http://www.myleftwing.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=15299
The Louisiana Committee for a Republican Majority, which is David Vitter’s Tom DeLay style PAC for staffing Louisiana with Republicans, sent a mailer misquoting my signature line at MyLeftWing to voters in Louisiana House District 94. Their flier is full of lies, and the signature line they misquoted is a link to your website. Read the diary, review the fliers, and follow the link I provide in the diary. Jindal, according to Vitter’s Committee for a Republican Majority, is a reformer. But what has Jindal reformed in Washington, DC?
Also, did anyone notice how Jindal failed to take a principled stand during the roll call vote on CAFTA? He and Boustany waited until the last minute to cast a symbolic NO vote until they knew Tom DeLay had the votes to pass the bill. In other words, Jindal and Boustany sold out Louisiana industries, but insidiously and cynically cast a NO vote in order to claim they care for Louisiana industries. Here are some links, and notice how they waited until the very end to vote. They call this strategy catch and release: you catch everyone who will vote against and bill and hold them in the pen until you know you have enough YEA votes to pass a bill. This makes all those NO votes meaningless.

Notice how Boustany and Jindal were not allowed to vote NO until enough YEA votes were cast. This is not leadership; this is selling Louisiana out. And notice that Jindal went around telling the sugar industry that he was opposed:
http://www.globalexchange.org/campaigns/cafta/2831.html
But if he were truly opposed, he would have voted no before Tom DeLay let him. Selling out his NO vote to Tom DeLay, Jindal sold out Louisiana and sugar but still came out looking like an indepedent. But he is not independent, as he waited to vote NO until DeLay had all the YEA votes he needed to pass CAFTA. Jindal is weak; he is not a leader. Jindal is a sellout.
ARMPAC is dead for a reason. And now Vitter is trying to follow it its footsteps? Those ads against Deborah Langhoff are just plain disgusting, just like the people who mailed them out.
I don’t know the context that the statement was made in, but I will gladly state that I loathe Bobby Jindal’s politics. I loathe his stance on abortion. I loathe his stance on ethics. I loathe his stance on education. I loathe the lies about his record. Why else would I blog on a site called “Jindal Is Bad”? I loathe all of those things because I know the truth about Bobby Jindal. I have not bought into the misleading spin that they present about his record and I hope that by the time the election comes around, more people can be shown the truth about him as well and the truth is that as a choice for Governor, Bobby Jindal is Bad.
I wish you were on my campaign team Dan Z!
I hope that my helping to spread the word about the misrepresentation of the Jindal record will enable all other candidates in the 2007 Governors race to once and for all squash the attempts by the Jindal camp and the Louisiana Republican Party to pull the wool over the eyes of the citizens of Louisiana. Jindal does not deserve to sit in an elected capacity. He doesn’t represent the people, just himself and special interests.
I guarantee you that had I won the 2004 election that my “power ranking” would be higher than Congressman Jindal’s right now….. it is embarassing that his power ranking is so low. He is an embarassment to the State. He and Vitter represent almost everything that is wrong with our state. Yes, David Vitter… the man who when refering about gay marriage said in June of 2006; “I don’t believe there’s any issue that’s more important than this one,”" *. Less than a year after Hurricane Katrina, the most important issue to David Vitter was whether gay people should marry? If that is what a “Republican Majority” will bring us then I say no thank you.

I am glad he reads his email. Be sure to thank him for the attention.
I just noticed that a minute ago. Will do.
Wow. Even Minnesota’s freshman whackaloon congresswoman, Bush molester Michele Bachmann, outranks Jindal in terms of effectiveness.
Think about that.
[…] Posted by Phoenix Woman on March 22nd, 2007 She may be an utter whackaloon and a wet-behind-the-ears freshman Representative, but she’s still rated as more effective than Bobby “Please Kick Me Upstairs Before You Figure Out What A Tool I Am” Jindal as a congresscritter. Check it out, here. (h/t to JindalIsBad.com) […]
It’s a bad sign for this website when your own poll doesn’t even reflect what you stand for.
D for J: What? The poll has 51% not voting for Jindal, most of those emphatically so!
