Jindal nixes ethics bill
Jul 11th, 2008 by Andrew
Bayou Buzz reports that Jindal vetoed ethics legislation that would have required all elected officials, including Jindal, to disclose if a political appointment was also a campaign contributor.
Jindal supposedly rejected it because he disagreed with a problem with the wording. However, this bill was not just sprung on Jindal. He knew it was coming down the pipe and could have suggested other wording that may have been to his liking. My theory is that the only wording that would have made it to Jindal’s liking would be if it had said “except for the Governor”.
So here was an example of real ethics reform, yet Jindal vetoed it? How much more do people need to see to realize that he really is the person we said he was.

Interesting! Glad to hear everyone enjoyed the LSU football game!
That morning as I approached the 310 and I-10 intersection; I noticed a severe log jam of traffic in the I-10 Westbound lane. I had not been aware that the game had been moved to an earlier time as I had worked feverishly through the night securing everything prior to departing Terrebonne Parish ahead of Gustave. At first I thought there were a lot of vehicles heading west ahead of the storm, only to realize later that an LSU football was being held in Baton Rouge, hence, the traffic.
It was an overt demonstration of where priorities lie in the State of Louisiana. Evidently a football game is more important than the safety of the residents of the State of Louisiana, not to mention evacuees of other states that were enroute to areas of safety. It also demonstrated the apparent lack of respect or surmountable ignorance of demises that hurricanes cause. Yet, this is a university system?
That night, I overheard many sportsfans from other states make negative comments on how insensitive the State of Louisiana appeared for allowing that game to be played instead of worrying about the protection and well-being of our people. I could only sit and ponder their comments in light of my own observations. I whole-heartedly agree with them.
