Jindal misses Homeland Security meeting with FEMA.
May 17th, 2007 by Daniel Z.
The head of FEMA met with the House Committee on Homeland Security the other day. He was there to answer questions about their ability to be ready for the upcoming hurricane season.
Who missed it? That’s right, Congressman Bobby Jindal; The man we are paying to represent us in Congress; The man who touted his placement on the Homeland Security committee as one of his accomplishments in Congress; The only member from Louisiana on that Committee.
According to the article…
“Rep. Bobby Jindal, R-Kenner, the only Louisiana member on the committee, didn’t attend the hearing. A spokesman said the start of the hearing coincided with a meeting Jindal hoped to have with the family of a slain police officer from his district. The family canceled, the spokesman said, and Jindal had other previously scheduled meetings.”
So let me get this straight, the family cancelled on Jindal and he couldn’t reschedule the other meetings to make this one? I want to know what those meetings where and why they where considered to be more important than making sure that FEMA is ready for the next hurricane season.

What’s the point of this article? Following a politician to see which meeting he attends and does not attend. Are we to conclude Bobby Jindal is bad based on this?
Jindal is an intellectual and a scholar. Louisiana is lucky to have him, a state that has been plagued with corruption and scandal over the years. Give him a chance to clean it up.
Neil: The person who at the time wanted to be Governor of Louisiana and who was representing a district in Louisiana that is directly impacted by major storms that hit Louisiana’s coasts. Now you tell me, was it a good idea to miss a meeting with the head of FEMA on a meeting having to do with hurricane preparedness? I think not.
Give Jindal time to clean up Louisiana? In his time so far he has made it harder for people to be convicted of ethics violations and he eliminated transparency on his office. Would you trust him to make any more changes? I wouldn’t. I don’t. And you shouldn’t either.
