Is Bobby Jindal A Political Opportunist?
Nov 22nd, 2006 by jindalisbad
I’m going to list a few known facts about Mr. Bobby Jindal and I want you to decide wether he is a political opportunist or not?
- Changed his given name of Piyush to Bobby
- Changed his religion from Hindu to Christianity
- “Moved to a safe “white” district and ran for Congress after loosing for Governor” - Source
- Used federal campaign monies to secure a win for District 1 in New Orleans through-out the state, a tad over $2,000,000 bucks
- Is now sending out emails to Congress supporters asking for money
- He will be abandoning his Congress seat to run for Governor after being elected by the people for Congress
I will keep the list short for now and may come back to include more but do you really think if all of these actions were not taken Mr. Jindal would have any chance at running for Governor and winning?

All of the facts are legal and OK in a free society. I do not want Bobby Jindal for Governor, and I did not vote for him for Congress.
What are the people who sign in here doing to inform the people of Louisiana about Jindal’s voting record (many Louisiana voters will like his record unfortunately).
What are we doing to get fair coverage in the press and radio about Bobby Jindal?
I think there is a place for Bobby Jindal in public service. I do not think that place is either in the legislature or the Governor’s mansion.

I couldn’t agree more with you Leonard.
Just to make a small correction, Congressman Jindal (to my knowledge) has not legally changed his name to Bobby. On the ballot his nickname shows up as “Bobby” (quotes included). This means that Bobby is a nickname.
I think the fact that Bobby Jindal changed his name to “Bobby” says more about the Louisiana electorate than it does about him. You’re probably right a “Piyush” would never win in Louisiana.
Also, I believe he converted to Catholicism when he was in high school.

Still better than Governor BlankStare….He hasnt changed his name legally, the name bobby comes from growing up in the south and people not accepting his background PEOPLE HE GREW UP CALLED HIM BOBBY. you people are racists plain and simple. You try to cover it up and say its about politics, but your racism shows right through, maybe David Duke will run again so you will have someone to support..
Ha! Now we are racist, that is funny. Your the one calling names “BlankStare”.
Jeff pointed out that he didn’t change his name legally when two posts earlier I stated that he hadn’t changed his name legally. Why the need to point it out again? Maybe he didn’t read every post.
Then Jeff claims “racism”… which is the other card that Jindal supporters typically will use when people attack Jindal’s record (besides “but he’s so smart”). I guess they wonder “how can somebody not love Bobby Jindal, they must hate him for his race”.
Here is a newsflash for Jeff. It is not racist to say that Bobby Jindal’s record has been distorted by his campaigns. It is not racist to point out Bobby Jindal’s cruel and heartless belief that women who are impregnated because of a rape should be legally restricted from obtaining an abortion. It is not racist to point out Jindal’s hypocrisy when he claims to support “ethics” when one of his first votes in congress was to weaken house ethics rules. It is not racist to point out that Jindal is misleading the people when he claims that “his hard work” got Louisiana its fair share of oil revenues. Bobby Jindal supported a bill that died in committee and he fails to mention other members of Louisiana’s Congressional delegation who worked to help get the SENATE bill passed.
And Jeff, I have a promise for you. If there is ever an election that Bobby Jindal is participating in and the only other candidate is David Duke, I will both vote for Jindal and put his bumper sticker on my car. Given the choice between Jindal and David Duke, Jindal is the better choice.
Bobby Jindal is most DEFINITELY a political opportunist! When you change your name you’re usually running from something, not for something–could that be his heritage? If he is willing to sellout his heritage–he will sellout his state. This is so unlike Louisianians who are all proud of their heritage regardless of their origins.
[…] Is Bobby Jindal a political opportunist […]
This is typical of Louisiana politics. Let’s go ahead and re-elect the comfortable choice for the good ole boys of Louisiana. Blanco is just continuing the downward spiral started by Edwards. Until the state elects someone with intelligence we will continue to be the laughing stock of the U.S.
RACE did play an issue in the 2003 Governor’s Race. Study the map and demographics. North Louisiana has voted for a Republican candidate in every election since Duke. In 2003, they chose the White Lady over the Republican. How could race have not been a factor?
The rest: Actually, your post is typical of Louisiana politics. You discuss re-electing the “comfortable choice” (whatever that means) when nobody on this thread has mentioned re-electing anyone. This is not a two person race. There are at least 6-7 people who have already stated that they are running to be our next governor.
Saying that we need to elect someone with “intelligence” is just falling into the whole “but he is so smart” line. Just because someone is intelligent doesn’t mean that person is suited to be our governor.
Who is claiming that race didnt “play an issue” in the 2003 Governor’s race? I am sure that some voters refused to vote for Jindal because of his heritage. However, racism was not the ONLY factor in why Jindal lost. The Blanco campaign put out a piece showing how Jindal’s health care cuts HURT people. Had Jindal not done those cuts, he may have won other people over. Perhaps if Jindal wasn’t a “no abortions, no exceptions” kinda guy, he would have won some other people over. Jindal supporters are so obsessed with the whole race issue that they ignore the other VALID and LEGITIMATE reasons why Jindal lost.
And what I was pointing out was that you can point out why Jindal is a bad choice for governor without mentioning anything about what he looks like.
But you go ahead and keep playing the typical Louisiana politics game of trying to distort the real issue in the hope that people will continue to buy the misleading spin of the Jindal campaign. I just hope for the sake of our State that people start educating themselves on who the real Bobby Jindal is and why he is an aweful choice for governor.
And one more thing. Before you Jindal supporters try and make us non-Jindal supporters out as racists…. I will point out that when I was campaigning for David Gereighty in the LA01 race last year, the number of Republicans who said that they would never vote for a Democrat because Democrats are a bunch of “N*****R lovers” was astounding and disgusting.
So many of you Jindal supporters need to get off your high horses when it comes to the whole race issue because many of you are hypocrites. (Not all, maybe not even most, but many).
That should read “So, many…” not “So many”. (Lest someone get confused and try and twist the words)
