Governor’s race wide open!
Apr 9th, 2007 by Daniel Z.
A current Verne Kennedy poll funded by Republican candidate John Georges shows that only 22% of all candidates have made a “definite and final decision” on who they are voting for.
So much for the Jindal polling numbers showing that he has it all “locked up”.

On Easter Sunday, Bobby Jindal emailed me asking for money. It doesn’t surprise me Louisiana voters are looking for someone else!
Really? On Easter Sunday? I would love to see a copy of that mail.
John Georges and Walter Boasso will cause huge problems for Jindal. This may explain why the LA Republican Party, especially Vitter, is so aggressive in his endorsement of Jindal.
I’m not surprised he did that over the Christmas Holidays. I realize what the money is for, “advertising”. I really don’t want people’s hard earned money, I need their vote. If they are inclined to contribute I would graciously accept it. I have a hard time asking for it.
You and Tony G! That’s what’s right for Louisiana!
Anthony “Tony G” Gentile for Governor 2007
Here is a portion of the email — it was the third one I got from him during Holy Week! As you can see, it arrived right when we got home from Easter lunch.

Dear friends,
Fighting to protect your rights (this is the NRA Stuff)
Expanding economic opportunities
The House of Representatives is out of session this week, which means I have had the opportunity to travel around the state. I have had a great time visiting with residents in Belle Chasse, Slidell, Lutcher, Marksville, Mansura, Urania, Oakdale, Many, Natchitoches, Lafayette, Jennings, Intracoastal City, Abbeville, Church Point, Baton Rouge, Minden, Downsville, and Farmerville this week. 18 cities! it is like 1 1/2 stations of the cross

Celebrating Easter
Last weekend, my children went to an early Easter egg hunt, and they truly enjoyed themselves. This was Slade’s first Easter egg hunt, so he was in awe of the entire event, but his big sister and big brother offered to find some eggs for him. All three of our children were excited about the surprise visit that the Easter Bunny made, and we wanted to share some photos of that with you.
This weekend, my wife and I attended Easter services at church so that we could reflect on the wonder of Gods love and rejoice in the promise of new life. I hope you and your family have had a great Easter weekend.
As always, please feel free to contact my office if we can be of any assistance to you.
Sincerely,
Bobby
so bobby presents himself as the naive and kind candidate, while vitter and villiere attack everyone who may impede his path to the governor’s mansion. it is disgusting.
I guess since Jesus died for Bobby Jindal it is ok for him to ask for money on Easter!
You ladies are funny!
You ladies are funny!
You ladies are funny!
and bush appointed him in 2001. bobby has a lot to explain about his connections to bush and his unwillingness to criticize bush in the wake of katrina. does bobby know something we do not know? was recovery stalled in order to ruin blanco’s reputation for bobby? were poor voters disenfranchised in order to ensure a jindal victory? yes, i believe it was, and this is why i oppose piyush jindal.
well he won’t criticize Bush because his brother has a plumb job at the Office of Management and Budget! Sadly even that did not make Bush pay attention, though.
lizzie, this is precisely why bush did not engage more actively in our recovery. let us just say his inaction was on behalf of jindal and vitter.
It is true, Congressman Jindal’s brother, Nikesh, does work for the Whitehouse.
http://www.leadershipprofiles.com/preview.asp?docid=177053&t=0
His title is “Associate General Counsel, General Counsel, Office of Management and Budget, Executive Office of the President ”
It is safe to assume that he didn’t get the job until after his brother won in 2004.
The “campaign money” website has him working for Covington and Burling as a Lawyer in 2004.

If there is any doubt about the dead pelican, just compare it to matt drudge’s drudge report. both sites have the same format, and both report news from a conservative angle. the dead pelican is a conservative site, and its title is utterly cynical. why does anyone take that site seriously?
that’s funny about the Easter email. Hey Dan you want to post about that or me?
“Jindal Begs For Money On Easter Sunday”
BTW sorry I haven’t been around, my wife just gave birth to a baby girl!
Congrats JIB!!!!
Thanks Dan.
Congrats JIB!
He begged for money at Christmas time too. I addressed this and got in an interent barrage from Jindal supporters. He obviously has no respect for the Christian holidays. Seeking only to take advantage of people in good spirits.
Lizzie-
The only way you would have received that email is if you signed up for his email notices.
Further more, you clearly missed the entire rest of the message if you got that it was only “asking for money”. If you noticed, Mr. Jindal even wished you happy easter… haha. While in somewhat poor taste (after all it could have waited until Monday), comon… give me a break. “Bobby Jindal asked for my money on Easter Sunday!” I also swiped my mastercard at WalMart on easter sunday for some milk, does that make WalMart evil? I’m going to go support KMart now because WalMart took my money on easter sunday. Right.
Ok, so that’s a stretch too.
My point is, Louisiana is looking for alternatives to Bobby Jindal because they think that they have enlightenment… “know the facts”. If someone can give me 5 compelling reasons why NOT to vote for Bobby Jindal, and at least 3 compelling reasons why another candidate would be a better choice, I would reexamine my position. FEMA trailers is not considered compelling, nor is an email on Easter Sunday. Until then, I will maintain my stance that Bobby Jindal IS the current best choice for our state.
(Cue DanZ… haha)
Ahem! Did I miss my cue?
5 compelling reasons (and Ill even try to not mention the big social one).
A) Jindal voted against HR 1591, voting against the needs of Louisiana by voting to support Bush’s failed Iraq policy. Timetables are a good thing because currently the Iraqi people have no sense of urgency to completely take over their own self defense. By telling the Iraqis that they have until a certain date to be prepared (and that we will help them fund it) we will give them that sense of urgency. We will train them to defend themselves. We will hand over the self defense to the Iraqi people affirming our victory in Iraq. And if they refuse to do it, why should we be sending our troops over there to die. Voting against HR 1591 was a vote against Louisiana and a vote against the troops. His vote against it is reason #1 to reject Bobby Jindal.
B) Bobby Jindal voted to weaken house ethics during the Tom Delay scandal as one of his first votes in the House. If Bobby Jindal is willing to put partisan politics over ethics, how can anyone claim that he will bring a change to corrupt Louisiana? He has also accepted some unethical donations that have been discussed elsewhere on this site. His vote against ethics makes me afraid that he would keep Louisiana as the most corrupt state in the union by voting to support party over ethics and over the needs of our state. That is reason #2 to not vote for Jindal.
C) Jindal has voted against education. In his “career” in Congress, Jindal has voted to cut federal student aid by over 12 billion and has voted to against reducing federal student loan rates by 50%. Louisiana ranks very low in education. How could we expect to improve our education when Bobby Jindal votes to make it harder for students to seek an education? Jindal’s lack of commitment to education, along with our need to have a governor who will promise to be strong on education, is reason #3 for not supporting Jindal.
D) Jindal’s lies about his record are just disturbing. In a 2006 flier, Jindal claimed to support ethics and education (statements that have been countered above). Jindal’s website claims that he was instrumental in getting offshore oil revenue for Louisiana when in reality he kept fighting for his bill that put an undue burden on states when they want to try and keep drilling of their coasts. His continued fighting for his bill almost killed the possibility of any bill passing. Only after the election in November did he decide to support the Domenici-Landrieu Bill. We need a governor who will give us the straight story, someone who will try and mislead the voting public, and someone who isn’t so greedy that he would risk us getting our fair share of oil revenues by pushing for his own bill to pass. That is reason #4 why we should reject Jindal.
E) Jindal’s record in healthcare is much worse than his campaign would lead you to believe. Yes, he turned a deficit into a surplus. A multi-million dollar surplus! Is that good? Well, in a for-profit company that is absolutely wonderful! However, the Louisiana Department of Health is not a for-profit company. It is a department that is charged to provide healthcare services to the people who need it and cannot afford it. How responsible is it to sit on funds that are SUPPOSED to be spent on healthcare and, instead, close clinics and take away that care? It is not responsible. If that is Jindal’s idea on how to run one department, I do not want to see how Jindal will run the entire state. Jindal’s refusal to view the effect that his cuts would have on people is the 5th reason to reject Jindal.
See! 5 strong reasons to reject Jindal and not once did I mention the fact that he would force a 12 year old who was impregnated by a rape to not have an abortion despite the fact that she had no choice in the matter and there are increased health risks with pregnancies that young.
(I will repost this as its own thread as well, since someone had asked me to do that)
Oh, and the reason I am not worrying about giving 3 compelling reasons as to why you should vote for a different candidate is because we don’t know who will all be running when it is all said and done.
My point right now is to get as many people possible educated on why Jindal is the wrong choice for Governor by pointing out all the flaws in his spin and by getting more people to have an open mind about who they are going to choose in the upcoming election. The poll by Georges makes me happy in the fact that a supermajority of voters do have that open mind.
Perhaps we can have the discussion on what the other candidates bring to the table. Or perhaps it should only be my job to compell you to seek out another candidate, regardless of who it is (as long as it is not Jindal). If I get you to vote for anyone else, I have done my job.
NELA Resident - Regardless of whether of not I signed up for his emails, it is tacky and in very bad form to ask for money on Easter Sunday. I would have appreciated his Easter message more if he did not ask for funds and did not shamelessly use his kids in his political promotions.
Lizzie,
MailMan 1.0 (a popular mass mailing engine, possibly what was used) is designed to set up headers and footers in mass emails. I suspect that his solitation line is in EVERY email he sends out, as with probably every other politician.
You mention “shamelessly use his kids…” I find this interesting because so many citizens want elected officials who they can relate to. So he brings up his kids. To me it shows that his family is important to him.
I’m not arguing that it was bad form to send it on Easter (as I said, it could have waited until Monday) but comon, don’t spin the focus of the email into more Jindal bashing. Albeit this is “Jindalisbad.com”.
Can someone point me to some more information on John George? I keep hearing his name on this forum, but nowhere else and know nothing about his campaign.
Sure would be nice to learn more about him.
Besides the $5.5 million in the bank, a friend emailed me these ads — apparently they were pre-katrina test ads — they were widely circulated via email in New Orleans —

Well, I watched the videos and from the very little I know about him (these short three videos), he hits my major interest in the next governor— business.
Thanks lizzie. As I told DanZ in some previous post, I don’t intend to be some stubborn Jindal supporter, just play some devil’s advocate and further my own awareness. Thanks to this forum, I have learned several not-so-publicized facts about Jindal that have contributed to a less pretty picture of him. Hopefully no hard feelings.
Money and Leadership
Every election year in the Political world we hear about the money candidates have in their war chests. What is this supposed to mean? Really what value does this place on their candidacy? Is somebody buying there loyalty? Is somebody securing favors? Could be. But it certainly means that someone in their camp has the ability to raise money for advertising purposes. It has nothing to do with one’s ability to be a leader. It has nothing to do with one’s ability to make sound, high impact decisions. It has nothing to do with one’s ability to represent or lead the people effectively. The only winners in this exercise are the advertising companies and the media outlets.
The media outlets in turn only invite candidates that have paid for advertising on their broadcasts to debate. This leaves the public with a slanted view of the field. A candidate not invited may have the better message, but no one will know because he didn’t pay for any advertising. He wasn’t invited to the debate. Haven’t we heard, and maybe even said, “Well I voted for the lesser of two evils.” That’s a heck of a thing to vote for someone you really don’t want, but figure they’ll hurt you less than the other. We’ve also fallen into the trap of voting for the favorite. Name recognition! Everyone loves to be a winner. It’s good for the esteem, “Hey, my candidate won”. Nothing hurts as bad as when you find out the celebration is over you lost and you helped put that person in office. As a voter we can ill afford to cast that vote uninformed.
As a candidate with a grass-roots campaign that is beginning to take hold, I can only hope that the public will be able to look past the norm. The media blitzes that the richer candidates enjoy will undoubtedly cloud over the issues. One might say I have sour grapes over the fact my campaign account is much less than theirs. Well I’m only human and naturally would like to have more dollars available for advertising. And that’s all it is. Advertising. Personally I find it hard to ask people for their hard earned money for “my campaign”. I need their vote. I’d rather them keep the money for their families. Take the kids to a movie or a ball game. Mom and Dad get a sitter and go out for a nice quiet dinner.
My bet is the citizens of this state have learned what consequences of Election Day apathy bring. The big dollars will be spent, the commercials will run, and the debates will go on with or without all of the candidates. The future of Louisiana depends you and I as voters. Casting it on blind faith or just plain name recognition will only guarantee we stay the course languishing as “Louisiana the land of lost opportunity”. The citizen’s voices will be heard loud and clear. A leader will be selected based on conviction versus commercialism.
Anthony “Tony G” Gentile
You and Tony G! That’s what’s right for Louisiana!
Tony G Governor 2007
Mandeville, LA
May 12, 2007 7pm Covington, La Holiday Inn on US 190 The first Gubernatorial Debate. The candidates will be coming into my house. (I live about 6 miles from this Holiday Inn) You all are invited.
Let’s get ready to RUMBLE!
I wonder if Jindal will chicken out again. I will have to wear my t-shirt.
Hey Dan you must be for Tony G for Governor because you sure do talk big with him bigtime. He will not win because I’ll make sure of that. I’m going to tell all my friends and family about you and Tony Dan Zimmerman. I would really like too see what you guys really look like Dan & Tony. You got any websites with you guys on it?
Ron: What about “I am not supporting any candidate for governor” do you not understand?
I did run into Tony at Jeff Crouere’s “politics with a punch” in New Orleans on Wednesday. He wanted to take a picture of him and myself while I was wearing my “Jindal is Bad” t-shirt.
Why are you so interested in what I look like? Im 6′, fat, with a goatee
http://www.danieljzimmerman.com/mesuit.jpg (if you really need to see it, don’t get yourself too excited over it).
Hey Chaisson, let’s do lunch one day. Then you wont have to wonder what I look like. Here’s my number 985-789-0870. I’m a 24/7 type a person. Don’t hesitate to call.
Dan, I emailed the pic to my webmaster last night. It should be on later today.
No I would rather have lunch with Bobby Jinday than an old man like you Tony G LOL!!!! Your way too old to run for Governor Tony G. You must be in your late 50″s or early 60″s huh Tony?! What a very awesome campaign you go going here…….. Sike!!!
Are you tired of the same old thing?
The status of Louisiana is pretty much consistent. Forty-ninth or fiftieth is our usual position in all life category rankings year after year!Consistency!!
It’s time for a change!
The political history of Louisiana has left us the brunt of many jokes. Not to mention intense scrutiny from the Federal Government.
Lets use the past as a tool!
Failure in itself is not a bad thing. It’s when we keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome, that’s when it becomes wrong!
Louisiana: The next Generation
It’s time we start using common sense in government
Hey Tony I don’t see nothing on Education your going to do too help Louisiana on your website for governor? Sorry but I would have to give you a C-. Bobby Jindal still is on top with an AT100 bigtime!!! What are you going to also do about our Leeves huh Tony? It’s time to Grill you bigtime rightnow just to see how good you realy are Tony G.
Ron, it’s obvious you like spin because you appear to be so dizzy! I can take whatever you have brother.
What kind of Politican are you Tony G whenever you don’t answer questions that people ask you? I say thats a big SORE LOSER.
Ron: What will jindal do to education? Will he cut funding for it more than he already has in Congress?
I would hope that any candidate would tell us that we need higher and stronger levees. I said that in my 2004 campaign (and Jindal didn’t).
Ron: Jindal doesn’t answer questions, yet you are all gaga over him. Jindal ducks open debate of his questions. He went to 0 candidate forums in the 2006 election and 1 in the 2004.
If Jindal gets elected he is going to do the same thing for teachers as he did for medical workers.
Yeah right Fp and what is that huh? Tell me Fp what is it you damn basher.
why don’t you guys all get together and screw yourselves lol!!!
Bobby Jindal did this Bobby Jindal did that. I am so sick of you good for nothing bashers. I don’t give big rats ass what you say because I know who will be Governor of Louisiana this October and you guys don’t for sure. All you know what to do is Complain and Bash about people thats it in a nutshell. You bash my man I am going give you your own Medicine back too you bigtime.
You were asking me a question? After you insult me and you expect an answer? You’re very naive. The Levee’s will be maintainned in accordance to the Flood Protection Act of 1965. The Army Corp of Engineers is mandeated to comply. When the new head of Project Hope was asked what is she going to do about the Corp maintaining the levees outside of the mandate she replied she didn’t know anything about some Act passed back in 1965. I’ll keep the Corps feet to the fire. The Levee Boards are going to get off their duffs and do what they are responsible to do. Maintain the levess working in conjunction with the Corp. Grass cutting and luncheons are not their only responsibility. I will hold the agencies accountable for their actions.
Your man? I guess I’ll take it in the context I believe it to be in. Not the one it sounds like. I answered your question chief. You see chief if I was responible for LA01 and couldn’t get any support I’d rent the equipment and buy the materials to do the work myself. That’s my responsibilty to represent the people. I would work for the people. TOO MUCH rehtoric has been passed, we need action. Your man , using your words, likes to talk while his District languishes. Those are facts pure and simple. Go ride through Lakeview. Then ask me if I’m lying, spinning, or pushing rhetoric. Don’t get caught up in the sweet talk. It will only leave a sout taste in your mouth.
Ron: It is a shame that you don’t care about all the negative things that Jindal did since you want him to be your governor. I would think that an intelligent person would want to know about all of the negative things that each candidate has done in order to make an objective decision on who will be the best person to lead the state.
Let me tell you something Tony G Bobby Jindal has done alot for New Orleans since Katrina & Rita and he will do alot more too than what you are going to do for sure. He has hit all the major Oil Companies have you? I bet not. Look at all the people Supporting Bobby Jindal than You,Foster,Walter,John Georges, and whoever else is running for Governor of Louisiana. Bobby Jindal hasn’t sweet talked neither so just keep your stupid comments to yourself because like I said I am not voting for you and you can’t make me at all. Let Zimmerman your good buddy from the Democrat Mafia vote for you Tony G. You guys can call what you want to until your blue in the face for voting for Bobby Jindal I don’t give a rats ass.
Ron, I recommend you leave your house and experience reality once in a while. Jindal has done nothing for south Louisiana. I see no bills, no legislation, nothing. Landrieu has been pulling the weight of all these male ReTHUGlican goons.
You need a new newspaper subcription, or you need to change the cereal you eat for breakfast.
Ron Chaisson Says:

why don’t you guys all get together and screw yourselves lol!!!
Wow, the family values crowd has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why don’t you just shutup you Pointecoupeedemocrat jerk!!! I am for Bobby Jindal no matter what you say!!! He will win hands down as Governor of Louisiana bigtime and thats a fact you Democrat!!!I don’t need you to tell me what too do either. Why don’t you go join Zimmerman & Tony G Democrat Mafia Club!!! They might have some Hooter Gurls for you too screw with!!!!
Getting a little testie there Ron. You’re a typical Jindal supporter. You haven’t a clue. If you said you like him for what he stands for, okay. that’s cool. If you say you like him for what he’s done. He hasn’t done anything. He worked hard on his Bill but it didn’t make it. That’s like hitting two foulball homeruns and taking a third strike. You’re OUT! I deal with the truth. Plain and simple. It’s time for some common sense.
Hey Tony G why don’t you go back too Bollywood and get a damn life!!! We Bobby Jindal Supporters are very awesome compared to you Liberals like You & Zimmerman Tony G.
Welcome to Dan Zimmerman & Tony G World of Liberals!!! Enjoy your stay!!!
Ron Chaisson’s attempts to derail Jindal Is Bad are as transparent as they are futile. We will continue to show why Jindal is bad and his continued blatherings here will only serve to strengthen our arguments and our resolve.
Ron, you have a twisted sense of humor. Happy with my sex life, I do not need to fondle young girls trying to pay for college in order to compensate for a terrible marriage. That you do reveals more about you than it does about me. I understand all the rage, but please do not take it out on us. Why not jog, build a garden, repair a house in New Orleans or engage in other activities where your rage will be sublimated?
I will then continue to show everybody how bad you guys are!!!!
And you will soon be banned from this site, although I am sure everyone enjoys watching an overzealous Jindal supporter embarrass his candidate of choice. In fact, my friend just decided to vote against Jindal, because he does not want anything to do with someone who conducts himself they way you are doing so here. You are truly unhinged. I think you need a time out.
In fact, Chaisson, you are embarrassing all of us Cajuns. No wonder why people think Louisianans are crazy. You just provided them with more grist for their mill right here. But thankfully, all the Cajuns I know plan to vote against Jindal en masse. And I plan to get all these people to the polls.
I am glad you do not have a wife or children, because you have major anger management problems.
All Cajuns will vote for Bobby Jindal bigtime!!!
N’est pas vrai, cher, parce que Jindal n’est pas un vrai acadien.
I live in Terrebonne Parish thats why I know they will vote for Bobby Jindal bigtime!!! I have passed out sooooo many TIGERS FOR BOBBY JINDAL GOVERNOR BUMPER STICKERS down here!!!!
And i am sure those fliers are filling the local landfill. good luck with that.
Nope they are all over cars, trucks, and suvs bigtime and even my church likes him too!!!!!!!!!
Hey, cher, did you paste one on your nose too? You can bring some over here, because I know a few people who need some free toilet paper.
I am not coming over there to GAYVILLE!!!
you come up here and say that. we will chase you out of the parish. by the way, terrebonne parish has strict rules about campaign signs and literature on parish property. you may get arrested. i recommend you start following the law. and you come up here and call us names. we will see how that works out for you.
I think Rosie O Donnell is calling for you Pointecoupeedemocrat to do a show with her!!!!!
And I think Mark Foley is ready for his blow job. Go have fun!!!!!!!!
Duh like I didn’t know that already thanks for reminding me you Gay Pointecoupeedemocrat!!!!
i hope bobby jindal endorses all the statements you are making here.
Sorry but Mark Foley doesn’t ring a bell? Who is that your great great gay grandfather lol?!
and what makes you think i am a homosexual? you republicans always have sex on the mind. it is a real problem.
You all started it not me and I’m sure he doesn’t like you guys bashing him so he doesn’t come in here at all.
Mark Foley is the Republican Congressman with whom Jindal is friend who harrassed young boys in the House page program. He is one of the many reasons Republicans were creamed in the last election. And he is one of Jindal’s friends. That is your choice for Governor, a man who did and said nothing while a middle-aged man was preying on young boys in Congress.
We Republicans are awesome and you Democrats suck bigtime!!!
But you claim Jindal’s official campaign website is your website. I am sure he is very embarrassed. But since you use his site, I and others have to assume that Jindal endorses all your hateful statements. Good job smearing your candidate on our behalf.
I want proof in black & white on what you just said about those two awesome people!!!!
Good night, Ron, you are hopeless. I have things to do.
Go to the House Investigative Subcommittee Report from last December and read all 88 pages. Very interesting.
No you are all Hopeless bigtime so Get Lost Democrats!!!
Yeah you just might be lying like the rest of the Mafia Gang!!!
No, it is all true. Louisiana Congressman all knew about it, and they did nothing. here is the link to the report. i recommend you read it. it is not good.
http://www.house.gov/ethics/Page_Report.pdf
Read it.
ALL YOU GUYS NEED SOOOOOO MUCH HELP BIGTIME!!!!
I am for Bobby Jindal too and I have about had it with all of your guys harrassing Ron Chaisson so I will take up for him against all of you jerks!!!!
Jindal, Alexander, McCrery, Baker, boustany all knew, and they said nothing. NOTHING. Now Boustany and Vitter endorsing Giuliani makes sense. They protect a pedaphile who harrasses young boys in the House page program, and they endorse a man who cheated on all three of his wives.
GOOOOOOOOOOOO BOBBY JINDAL GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
BOBBY JINDAL ROCKS BIGTIME FOR GOVERNOR!!!!!!!
