What does money have to do with leadership capabilities? I’ll answer that. NOTHING. All it means is that the media outlets are going to take it from them! ADVERTISING We’re stuck on old time philosophies that has gotten us in the state we’re in. WE have to change our line of thinking. A big wallet is not synonomous with good leadership. Think outside the box. Breaux is out. We have a chance to change Louisiana. We have to thimk outside the box!
I have accumulated enough ammo here plus what I have been working on we can effectively show Jindal has built his house on a hill of sand. That Democratic fella, I cna’t remember his name locked Jindal up to the point I even felt bad for him. The man is beatable. I can catch his spin in either direction. The truth will always conquer. Louisiana needs the truth. We have languished far too long.
Tony: Do you mean Barney Frank? Yes, Jindal is beatable and he is nothing but a good spin machine. (And I would work on putting your posts in word and using the spell check just to make sure you dont have those errors in the future).
All: Breaux provided a great opportunity to defeat Jindal but he is not the only one who can step up an show why Jindal is bad. In fact, it is our job to explain to people WHY Bobby Jindal is a bad choice for governor so we can leave the self promotion to the other candidates in the race. It is possible that Chris John or Mitch Landrieu could enter the race. There are many other possibilities. The thing to remember is that once we defeat the Jindal spin machine by educating people about the facts, people will turn away from him in droves.
Let me tell you this. I was at the Kenner City Council meeting last night. I stood up and told the council at the end of the meeting about the fact that our Congressman voted against HR 1591 (thus voting against the waiver of 10% that was provided to NY after 9.11 and to Florida after their hurricanes). Even after explaining why Jindal voted against it (the timetables) and after giving them my explanation as to why timetables are good (as submitted to the Times Picayune in my letter to the editor last week), many Republicans agreed with me and could not understand why Jindal would vote against us by voting against that bill.
If I can get firm Republicans to say that Jindal was wrong for voting against HR 1591, then we can get ANYONE but the ones with blinders to listen to us. We just have to spread the word!
I have been conducting a poll on the northshore. I have asked neighbors, friends, and co-workers living in St. Tammany Parish if they know who their Congressman is. 90 % said no or they did not have a clue. 10% said yes Bobby Jindal. The next question is can you tell me one thing he has done for his district. 100% answer NO.
I will share a bit of personal experience. When I campaigned for Congress in 2004, I went around the Northshore a lot. I spoke with many different people about Bobby Jindal and how I felt about his policies and his record. I gave them my ideas about what I would make my top priority (coastal restoration/hurricane protection). I got many good responses and in my personal experience I only found 1% of the people actually supported Bobby Jindal. Here is the problem. As a poorly funded candidate, with hardly any campaign structure or grassroots support, I was unable to spread that message beyond those I spoke with. So while I may have convinced 99% of the people I spoke with to vote for me (doubtful, but it could have happened), I was unable to convince the other people I was unable to talk to (or who didnt view my site) to change their minds and vote for me instead of Jindal. So people in that situation tend to vote for the name they know over the names they do not know. It is purely name recognition. So if I where you, I would be happy about the people you have reached, but I would also understand that the people I havn’t reached (and who are voting) most likely have heard about Jindal and will not vote for you unless you are able to reach them.
I understand that about name recognition. Boasso sent a letter to the LAB seeking to have a series of televised debates, six, to include all candidates from April through October. The debates would be structered on six different topics. We’ll see what happens. IF I can get my mug plastered on TV six times I think I can win over a lot of people. The radio show went well in Lafayette. The Democratic State Senator that was there on the show started to like me!
The problem comes when Jindal decides to duck all of the debates in an attempt to make them seem less legitimate. He will either do that or use the pull of the Republican party to set it up in a format that is less risky to him. For all of his “good speaking skills”, Jindal does not like to debate.
Maybe I’m niave but I believe this go around the voter will be expecting more from potential leaders. Ducking and dodging will not be viewed as a good quality. I have been to two functions where Jindal dist the host. There will be a price to pay for this. To many more and October 20th might not be a good day for him!
You guys should be cranking out piece after piece on why Big Oil Republicans and their K-street GOP Grand old Pedophiles are Bad for this state. You can start with Senator Inholfe and his beliefs about Global Warming. BIG and Oil and their friends have destroyed this state and the coast. Please help us make sure that no Republicans are elected into this state again.
Watch the Video and read the comments. It was just a pr stunt designed to appeal to ignorant racists and the whole thing was dishonest. And Creepy. It is exactly what we are in for if this crook puppet gets elected.
I like it FP….WTR….
Campbell is the last credible candidate who can defeat Jindal. Landrieu is out and we all saw the success Chris John had against Vitter. If Democrats have any sense they’ll rally behind Campbell. This guy has a bulletproof plan that I feel can really be effective on the Republican side as well
Read here how his bullet proof plans are sunk already. He sings a popular tune. He has not thought out all the potential problems his plan will create. He’s not keyed into reality.
Campbell’s thought of eliminating Income tax is a snake in the wood shed. You wont see it until it bites you! Slapping a 6% tax on foriegn crude oil refined in Louisiana will raise the price of gasoline and diesel at the pump. You’ll pay for it there. You’ll pay for it in the marketplace as every item transfered from point A to point B will go up in price. At current pricing the price of gasoline could go up as much as 15 cents a gallon. The man is a loose cannon. Louisiana refineries retooled in the early to mid 80’s to run high sulfur crude oil. This cost billions of dollars state wide. This was done to stay in business and remain competitive in the marketplace. Many refiners made it through the tough times keeping Louisianan’s employed with well paying jobs. It also provided for a service industry with better than competitive contracts. Now he wants to punish the industry for making it. For hanging in there and surviving. I work in the oil industry. Margins were tight. The big refineries like Shell Norco and Exxon Baton Rouge made money due to their ability to process large amounts of crude oil. The smaller refineries struggled.
I had a conversation with Campbell about this. Once a refinery converts to high sulfur crude it cannot just decide to run low sulfur (sweet) crude oil again. Modifications have to be made. He would not listen. He’s hell bent on raising the price of fuel for Louisiana as well as the rest of the country. Our products will not drive the market price. This man has not followed this out to the end. I don’t believe labor will stay behind him. Once people get more educated on his plan for disaster they will walk away from him.
I’m not taking up for the oil industry. I too have to buy gasoline and products at the marketplace. I feel the pinch too. As a consumer I believe that they could lower the cost of fuel a little. The oil companies have not contributed to my campaign. I am speaking on economical terms only.
One thing to bear in mind. You can tax oil refineries for running foreign crude. Set up your whole budget based on current production rates. You can’t force them to run rate. If all 16 refineries decide to do turnarounds (overhauls) or several have outages, fires or major interuptions in supply due to weather related or foreign political elements the state in in trouble. This is a true example of VOODOO economics. Refiners that want to expand may decide to do it elsewhere where they wont be taxed on their raw materials to make saleable products. He’s right the oil industry wont leave Louisiana. It will just stagnate. At a time when we need economic development this is not a conducive concept.
Any industry that produces in mass will become a target if they don’t use all Louisiana raw materials. The elimination of State Income Tax is just a political manuever to gain support. Sadly enough the people that may buy into it are the ones that will be hurt the most.
Good state tax systems levy low, flat rates on the broadest bases possible, and they treat all taxpayers the same. Variation in the tax treatment of different industries favors one economic activity or decision over another. The more riddled a tax system is with these politically motivated preferences the less likely it is that business decisions will be made in response to market forces
We need to become fiscally responsible and eliminate the Stelly Plan. I believe if we manage 28 -29 billion dollars effectively we can find ways of reducing some of the tax burdens placed on citizens.
You and Tony G! That’s what’s right for Louisiana! Anthony “Tony G” Gentile Governor
So I guess its fine to tax domestic oil producers a 12.5% refining fee and not tax foreign oil refiners anything right Tony? And Sweet oil? Only people who work in the oil industry would have a clue what the hell that is anyway….People will buy into this issue and Campbell can get get elected.
The people are not hearing any of this, they are just being appealed to by gun rallies and astroturf stories in the local rags.
We want to stop Jingoistic jindal because he is political hack that appeals to voters with gun rallies and lies. You don’t believe the story about the unnamed helicopter looking for permission to help in katrina do you? I have not looked into but it looks like a lie. If there is no proof lets call it a lie
Look at this big fat lie: (do a Google search for “Jindal Ironic” and watch the youtube video there.)
Listen to the guy from Ma. set him straight. He used this to appeal to people in Louisiana, These folks were going nuts talking about how smart Jindal is for coming up with a way to keep drug dealers out of public housing. His campaing is not based on real issues. It is based off of appealing to the bigoted side of poor people who don’t know any better. You have to do the same, the fact the rightwing think tanks put out trash about immigrants being good for the economy and the number of Local business dieing to get their hands on cheap labor ought be a big issue.
Lets appeal to them with the truth. Look at the Jindal Donors, these are the same people that want to flood this state with cheap labor and illegal immigrants and special work visas. Jindal is a hack. He is also going flood Terrebonne with the Gulf of Mexico. Their guns won’t help them with a storm surge. But if they were armed with the truth and with the stories that the local rags won’t print, then they won’t vote for this hack!
guess Georges looks like the best shot — he does have more money than Bobby — plus he has not spent any of it yet.
he better hurry the hell up then

There is no reason to panic everyone. I will take good care of your state for the next 8 years. And then…. on to the White House!

Jim Bernhard!
He’s not a political outsider, he has the money to match Jindal. He is smart, a proven leader and has what it takes to move Louisiana forward.

How come it takes a senator from Massachusetts to point this out?
Foster Campbell can win this race. He has a great platform that can really make a difference in this state.
